I made a short video to help other homeowners like myself lay a carpet runner on stairs. I could not find any other useful videos on the net so I figured I would make one as I went along. I am not a pro and there are probably some better techniques out there but I hope this helps out do-it-yourselfers. If you have a better way post a video do not leave a smart ass comment. Thanks.

Your stairs are one of the central features of your home. They’re absolutely essential, and it’s important that they look great and function as they should at all times. There’s not much to a staircase, yet they’re somehow still neglected. People with hard staircases, including those with wood flooring, can leave their stairs as they are, but there benefits to buying carpet runners for stairs instead.

When your children run upstairs, do their feet crash on every step? Do you worry you’ll slip when your shoes are wet, or have you been noticing chips in the floor or the paintwork? If so, using carpet stair treads in your house could really save your ears, your body and your house.

Carpet runners for stairs should be fit over your existing staircase. Carpets add a level of protection to stop damage reaching your stairs, and they soften the sound of footsteps more than you’d imagine. They’re easy to fit, and it’s a simple process of placing the carpet runners over your staircase and allowing them to grip your floor. You can adjust the runners to make sure they look straight, and you’ll be able to use additional carpet tape, if needed, to put them firmly in place.

Every year, hundreds of people injure themselves by slipping or falling on stairs. Most of these people are children, or the elderly, and you could help to protect the vulnerable by using carpet runners for stairs. They offer an extra level of grip for those who use them, and can help to prevent accidents in the home.

Carpet runners aren’t just there to increase the safety of your stairs, to reduce the noise when people use them or to protect your stairs from damage – they look great, too. Many people choose carpet stair treads simply to decorate their home, without considering the other benefits. Carpet runners come in many designs, and in a variety of colors, so whether your home’s chic and contemporary or vintage and elegant, you’re sure to find carpet runners to suit. You can purchase carpet runners that cover almost the entire width of your staircase, much like a carpet, or you can buy small carpet stair treads that cover a small section of each stair, leaving much of the original wood on show.

Carpet runners for stairs can be made from all sorts of materials, with popular ones including synthetic carpet materials, jute and wool. When you want your home to look its best, you’ll want to think about the most suitable material, style, color, shape and size of carpet runner for your home.

You can purchase carpet runners for relatively low prices, and many are sold in standard staircase lengths. Always remember to check, though. If you don’t think a certain carpet runner will fit over your whole staircase, be sure to buy more. As with other home DIY materials, it’s always better to buy more carpet runner material than you need. Once you’ve got it in your home, it will look fantastic, but don’t miss out on the chance to get your whole staircase furnished and decorated in one go.

If you are using carpet inside your home and you are planning to purchase a stair treads, why not match it with a carpet stair treads? Like most decorative carpets, this stair tread is available with different intricate designs and colors that are appealing to the eye. It will not only make your stairs look good but it will also make it nice to step in. Carpet has a good cushioning characteristics, it will reduce the noise created by someone wearing a hard sole shoes walking on it and at the same time protecting it especially if you own a wooden stairs. This is perfect for heavy traffic and quiet room environment to avoid distracting other people so that they can concentrate with their work. It is very easy to install, if you have a non-skid foam back stair treads just lay it on the desired spot and you are done, just make sure that they are aligned perfectly to have a more presentable look. The foam back extra grip prevents it from moving, holding it in place. If you are still not satisfied with it and you think you need additional adhesive to hold it, you can use the indoor carpet tape or the double sided carpet tape which can be bought separately. Some brand without non-skid backs are sold together with a carpet tape, make sure that you install them using the tape provided before using otherwise it will be more dangerous and it might actually cause the slippage.

One of the dangerous place for children and the elderly is the stair. Installing a carpet stair tread not only protect your stair but also prevent accidental slippage from people who are using it. Kids are very active and playful, they always run and roam around the house, installing a stair treads gives the parents a peace of mind knowing they’ll be safe. Before finally placing your order you must check how many stair treads are included in the package, you might need to purchase more than one pack if you have many stair steps. There are also package that have many stair treads and includes a matching wide long runner carpet with the same design pattern. This is good because you don’t have to find and buy a separate carpet with the same design pattern and color which is very difficult if not impossible. If you are having any problem with the curling especially the four corners, just apply a double sided carpet tape or find one that’s curl free stair treads. Some companies who already have experience with this problem already addressed it and already added this feature to their product. Cleaning this treads are very simple, it’s just like cleaning a carpet with a vacuum cleaner.

The main purpose of the stair tread rugs is to protect the stairs especially wooden stairs from scratching it and also to collect dust and reduce noise from people climbing the stair. Unlike hard rubber which commonly used in outdoor stair treads which actually scratching the wooden floor, rugs are soft which are ideal to use in sensitive wooden stairs. They are also stylish and available in various colors and unique design patterns. One of the common stair tread rug is the braided stair tread, usually made of textured high density wool that is breaded together forming a long oval shape. Some braided rugs are made with one color, usually khaki to camouflaged stain from dirt and dust.

Others are made with a combination of different colors braided together forming an intricate pattern and are available in unlimited or infinite combinations possibilities. Other type of rug is the carpet tread rug, they are actually made of ordinary carpet just like the one used in most homes. The only different is the size; just like common carpets they are available in thousands of design and lots of color combination. So if you want something to match your home decor or theme that wouldn’t be a problem, just bring a sample design or color and show it to the seller and I’m sure you can easily find one.

The common problem about tread rugs is that it can easily slip out of its place because of its lightweight but with the use of a non-slip tape underneath it solves the problem. Another problem is that this type of stair treads tends to curl which is very annoying and looks ugly, that’s why some manufacturers uses curl resistant material to eliminate curling and ensure that the rug stays flat on the floor even if you use it for a long time. In other countries they are utilizing old clothes to make a tread rug. They cut them into long strip and braided them together forming a unique tread rug. Some people recycle the excess material from clothing manufacturers. They buy them at very low price, and turn them into a tread rug and sell them for a profit.
